1. Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral INTRAVENOUS (USGPIV) Training (4 CE Hours)
What you will learn
- Ultrasound principles and probe orientation: Understand how ultrasound works and how to position the probe to get clear images of the underlying veins.
- Venous anatomy: Identify and assess the size and depth of peripheral veins in different areas of the body, such as the cephalic, basilic, and median antebrachial veins.
- USGPIV insertion techniques: Learn both in-plane and out-of-plane techniques to visualize and guide the needle into the vein under direct ultrasound guidance.
- Patient care and safety: Reduce the number of needle sticks, minimize the risk of infection, and improve patient satisfaction by accurately locating veins on the first attempt.
This training is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), Provider #17993, for 4 CE Hours. 2. PICC & Midline Insertion Training Course (NEW – 8 CE Hours)

- Ultrasound vessel mapping (basilic, brachial, cephalic)
- Sterile technique & maximal barrier precautions
- Modified Seldinger Technique
- Guidewire insertion & catheter advancement

- Complication avoidance (arterial puncture, malposition, infiltration)
- Post‑insertion care, securement, flushing & documentation
- PICC/Midline dressing
- Hands‑on simulation with sterile field set-up, PPE, and Modified Seldinger technique.
A comprehensive, full‑day training covering PICC and Midline catheter insertion using ultrasound and the Modified Seldinger Technique. Nurses receive step‑by‑step instruction, sterile field setup, guidewire handling, catheter advancement, measurement, tip positioning, and complication prevention.
